Moneyball

As of this writing, we're about a month away from Major League spring training. That means everyone's going to be trying to figure out who the next big name will be. Some do it with their gut. Brad Pitt does it with a computer algorithm and the fat kid from Super Bad.

Classic Review - Mad Max

Welcome to the first of our Classic Reviews, where I take a look at older movies.

First up in our Classic Movie reviews, we have Mad Max. The name Mad Max might conjure up images of sprawling desert compounds, tankers carrying precious oil, and gangs dressed like S&M lovers. That, my friends, is Mad Max 2 - The Road Warrior, an awesome movie. Mad Max is part one of this series, and it's slightly different.

Warrior

As long as we're on the topic of fight movies, let's look at Warrior. Have you ever wanted to face off against your ultimate opponent in the octagon? Have you ever felt the need to grapple closely with other men? Do you often look into the distance with a weary mind? Like Scotch? Then you might be in the mood for this movie.

Real Steel

Fighting has always been a popular movie topic. Rocky, Rocky II, Rocky III and others prove that. Fighting robots, however... now there's a movie that's only ever been talked about in dark circles of studio execs. The time is here, my friends, to indulge in metal-on-metal action!

The 4th Kind

The year I was born, Steven Spielberg released a movie that would be regarded as one of the best science fiction films for decades to come (three decades so far). That movie was Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind.  The "3rd" refers to a person having seen an alien.
Now, over 30 years later, an innovative and brave director decided to step up the game... all the way up to 4!

Strange Wilderness

When I was in eighth grade, my friend and I wrote a short story. It was a parody of Star Wars. There were characters like Princess Laid-a, Puke Skywalker, Chew-caca, etc. Oh, we were brilliant. So brilliant we handed it in for the teacher to enjoy. Needless to say, he didn't quite appreciate our artistic genius.
Strange Wilderness is a movie that was written by some other eighth graders. But instead of handing the paper into their teacher, they somehow sold it to a blind and deaf movie studio executive.

Mama's Boy

Another movie with Napoleon Dynamite. He's made enough movies now I guess I should stop referring to him as Napoleon Dynamite, and call him Jon Heder. But.... I'll just keep calling him Napoleon.

I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With

I want someone to eat cheese with. Hmm... It's a long name. I had the feeling that this name was chosen specifically because it's too long to be a proper movie title. I had seen a preview of this movie, and some of the jokes had cracked me up a bit. So, I gave it a go.

Juno

So here we are. One of the biggest blockbuster movies last year. There was so much hype I had to see it.
